Year 7, 8 and 9
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 follow the Cambridge Secondary 1 curriculum. This is a broad curriculum which provides a firm foundation for the start of Secondary 2 I.G.C.S.E courses in Year 10. The subjects studied at this level are: English, English Literature, Mathematics, Science (Biology, Chemistry and Physics), Chinese, Social Studies (History, Geography), Drama, Art, Physical Education. Subject choices for Year 10 are made at the end of Year 9, and are based upon each student’s areas of expertise and interest. Years 10 and 11
Students in Years 10 and 11 follow a University of Cambridge I.G.C.S.E programme. The core curriculum is made up of: English (as a First or Second Language, with more able students also studying for World Literature), Mathematics, Chinese (as a First Language or a Foreign Language),and a choice of one Science subject (Biology or Chemistry or Physics). Options available are: Art, Biology, I.C.T., Physics, Chemistry,Travel and Tourism and History, Drama and Physical Education. Examinations are sat in May/June of Year 11 and students must obtain a minimum grade of ‘C’ in order to take the subject in Year 12. Years 12
Students in Year 12 take 4 A.S (Advanced Subsidiary) subjects. The current subjects offered are: English Language, English Literature, Chinese, General Paper, History, Psychology, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Studies and Business Studies.
Examinations take places in May and June of Year 12. Students who have a proven track record of academic excellence may take more subjects with the approval of the Head of Secondary. Further information about the University of Cambridge programmes can be found at www.cie.org.uk
Years 13
Students in Year 13 take 3 A2 level subjects. Subjects currently offered are: English Language, English Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry and Physics. Examinations take place in May and June of Year 13.
